Thank you to everyone who read our recent newsletter update about the upcoming installation of the Poseidon statue in McKinley Park. We’ve received community feedback and want to take a moment to clarify a few important points about this project and ESCA’s role.

ESCA Did Not Plan, Approve, or Fund This Project

The East Sacramento Community Association (ESCA) did not initiate, fund, or approve the Poseidon statue installation. We were first informed about the project by the City of Sacramento’s Office of Arts and Culture during a presentation at one of our monthly board meetings, which are open to the public. The meeting was informational in nature, and no formal vote or endorsement was given by ESCA.

Open Meetings and Community Participation

As a reminder, our board meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at 5:30 PM at Little Real Estate Services at 855 57th Street, Suite H, and everyone in the community is welcome to attend. This is a great way to stay informed, hear directly from city officials and presenters, and voice questions or concerns in real time.

Why We Shared the News

We included the Poseidon statue information in our newsletter simply to inform residents about a project already planned by the City. As a community organization, one of our primary goals is to share information that affects East Sacramento, even when we are not directly involved in the decisions being made.

Your Feedback Matters

We value our neighbors’ feedback and appreciate the thoughtful concerns raised regarding environmental impact, placement, maintenance, and the statue’s appropriateness. These are all important issues, and we encourage residents to reach out directly to the City of Sacramento and our District 4 Councilmember, Phil Pluckebaum, at ppluckebaum@cityofsacramento.org to ensure your voices are heard by those with decision-making authority.

We are committed to transparency and community engagement, and we hope this clears up any confusion about ESCA’s role.

If you’d like to learn more or get involved, we hope to see you at an upcoming meeting.
